One wonders upon what VP Cheney bases his declaration that David Hicks is at
“the head of the queue” and that his sentence, if found guilty, as is sure to happen, under the circumstances, will be reduced by time served, let alone the remainder to be spent in an Australian prison? What cynical impulse is it that suggests a deal’s been made?
