Nothing, If Not Consistent
Although little more than a one-trick pony (although death squads are a hell of a trick), John Negroponte is now slated to become the new director of national intelligence. This will surely allow the Bush administration to enshrine extraordinary rendition, torture, and other human rights abuses as the de facto rule of law, at least until one run-in too many with Rumsfeld sees Negroponte’s head handed to him.
