Remember Bob Forehead? Funny how, more than twenty years later, we’re still dealing with the Reagan legacy. Look at ‘em. All earnest hair and serious mien. Unfortunately, with the House and Senate and the White House all dominated by the same generation of crooks and liars of a single party, there are no checks and balances worthy of the concept, particularly with Alito set to join the Supreme Court, the American system of government is going partisan in way perhaps never seen before. There’s been a lot of talk of impeachment and special prosecutors and so forth, but I don’t see it going anywhere. Why should it? While Patrick Fitzgerald is pursuing the Plame affair, even with Libby rolling, I don’t see a result worth the effort being forthcoming. And Bush? Nada. So all that’s left is consoling myself with old “Washingtoon” comics, seeing the relevance as much as ever, maybe even in the correspondence between Ken Lay and Mr. Oxboggle.
