Holden Caulfield, ‘03
Igby Goes Down is a nice enough contemporization of Catcher in the Rye, but a bit disordered and cluttered finally. It inspired no great nostalgia for NYC, even though much of the film was set in neighborhoods M. and I frequented. There wasn’t a shot in the film we didn’t recognize, and that was entertaining, although I did mistake Georgetown for Brooklyn Heights. Honest mistake.
There are quite a few other movies yet to be seen this winter, other than the “blockbusters,” such as Lost in LaMancha, 25th Hour, Man Without a Past, maybe even Travelling Birds (Winged Migration in the States, which is a sillier title), though that one may be an Imax kind of film.
