Discontinuing the Constitution
Now that George II can declare martial law anywhere and anytime, should we be concerned for the present restriction on holding the Oval Office to two terms? We’ve pretty much already lost Habeas Corpus, so if the Democrats fail to achieve a majority in either or both houses of Congress, can we expect Bush to resolve his Cheney problem (the guy’s never going to pass muster to run, medically) by opening the way to a third term? How far would he go – would he even suspend the 2008 election? More immediately: how does he keep getting away with this stuff?
