Welcome to the Outer West. Maybe not so much as Windsor, where M.’s grandmother lives, or even Penrith, where the t.v. weather reports provide the difference in daily temperatures above those given for the city, but enough that when it’s hot in the CBD, it’s sure to be notably hotter by the time I get to work. It figures that the patron saint of Finland also has oversight of refrigeration, but since that’s given us air conditioning, he’s the go-to guy in heaven this time of year. (Yeah, sure he’s made up, but so was Mr. Christopher. I’ll have to keep searching for the official version. Meanwhile, Catald, Goteberda, Heribert of Cologne, Solange, Swithun, and Trophimus of Arles all have drought relief in their purview, and perhaps that will do.)
