Gridlock
I signed a petition years ago to close Central Park to traffic. Sure, now they do it. Although the Olmstead design included carriageways for the gentry to drive their four-in-hand rigs through to the benefit of each other’s fashion sense, the advent of the automobile brought a different sense to personal transportation, one not amenable to parks, unless we’re talking about drag racing or LeMans. It’s about time somebody did something about it, even if it’s just a limited restriction for a limited duration. Traffic around the park won’t be pretty while everyone works out their routes, though.
