Hardy Stock, Transplanted
Unlike its forebears, the Irish Hunger Memorial has failed to thrive, or at any rate to endure a tough winter in New York. The usual NYC litany of blame and finger-pointing has ensued, but so has the repair work, so I expect the site will be brought up to spec soon enough. I visited there with Mom & Dad the summer before I followed my own immigration destiny and the memorial is indeed very powerful and an unquestionably remarkable work of [public] art. I recommend visiting it, although I’m betting the targeted June completion will not be met.
I Want My HBO
O.k., I stole the line from MTV. Still, after reading Maureen Dowd’s column on Ali G, I really want to see this guy in action. Who do I have to give carrots to?
