First Commandment Politics
Over at The Coffee Sutras, Kurt has an good post on perception and suffering that references an article by John Garvey in Commonweal (which isn’t on-line yet), where he says: “any time any politician says anything about God . . . we should realize we are being used.” You know whom I’m talking about, and it is among the most offensive things I hear coming from George II’s mouth. Yes, I know they all invoke God, but none of them, not even Jimmy Carter, has ever done so to so obviously a deceptive purpose. I think he even fools himself sometimes.
