"The Size of a House"
If the meteorite that fell on the south NSW coast last night had, indeed, been as large as that, we would be with the dinosauers by now, so I'm guessing the witness's report more accurately described an atmospheric effect. Of course, from the description, it sound more War of the Worlds than just some bit of space rock, so keep an eye out for three-legged walking machines with death rays.

(This seems to be part of a series of meteorological events coincident with the arrival of my sainted mother: her arrival in Adelaide being marked by a drop in temperature and three days of heavy rain in South Australia, her departure presaged by an earthquake up by her destination, as well as the Martian invasion. She's coming to Sydney in four days: should we expect volcanoes?)
