It wouldn’t bother me so much that the electricity rates are going up (by $0.67 to $1.17 per week - $34.84 to $60.84 annually, not so much, but it all counts), except that I don’t have any choice. Everything in my apartment is electric: heat, hot water, stove. If I just had the option of gas for some of this, or if the building itself had a bit of climate control, I’d feel better about it. Not o.k., but better. Of course, then my levies would be higher, and they’re bad enough as it is. Welcome back, Carter, I say. We’re on a regimen to turn off lights when we’re not in the room, rug up in sweaters (jumpers) during the day and blankets (doonas) at night. And no more veggie roasts. Stove-top cooking only. That’ll fix ‘em.
